Managing Your Dumpster Assets in Docket

Adding and organizing your dumpsters in Docket is critical for tracking, scheduling, and dispatching effectively. This article walks you through adding dumpster assets manually or via bulk import, assigning service addresses, and managing availability.


Why Add Dumpsters to Docket?

Dumpsters are the core of your roll-off business. Without them, Docket’s scheduling, dispatching, and other key features won’t function. Adding your assets ensures seamless operations, including:

  • Accurate scheduling and dispatching.
  • Easy management of availability.
  • Organized inventory for your team and drivers.

Adding Dumpster Assets Manually

To add individual dumpsters:

  1. Go to the Assets section in the left-hand menu.
  2. Hover over the green New button and select Add Asset.
  3. Complete the following fields:
    • Dumpster Size: Choose the correct size from the dropdown.
    • Category: Defaults to match the size, but you can adjust this to fit your pricing structure or terminology.
    • PIN: Assign a unique identifier for the dumpster. Drivers will use this PIN during pickups and drop-offs. Ensure it matches your team’s case-sensitive PIN format.
  4. Click Add Asset to save.

Bulk Importing Dumpster Assets

To add multiple dumpsters at once:

  1. Hover over the green New button and type “import” in the search bar.
  2. Select Import Assets and download the template.
  3. Complete the spreadsheet:
    • Do not alter headers to ensure a successful import.
    • Required fields include PIN, Category, Dumpster Size, and Type (e.g., Dumpster or Rental).
    • Add service addresses if dumpsters are already on-site to save time later.
  4. Return to the import tool, upload your completed file, and click Select File and Upload.

Adding Service Addresses to Dumpsters

If a dumpster lacks a service address, it will appear in the Untracked section. Assign an address to help Docket track its location and usage:

  1. Click on a dumpster in the Untracked list.
  2. Go to the Current tab and enter the service address.
  3. Click Update Current to save.

Managing Asset Availability

Set availability to let Docket know how many dumpsters are ready for use:

  1. In the Assets section, click on Availability.
  2. Enter the number of dumpsters currently in your yard. Exclude those on-site, even if scheduled for pick-up today.
  3. Click Update to save.

Docket will track and display availability daily, accessible via the Asset Availability icon.


With your dumpsters added and organized, Docket can now assist with scheduling and dispatching tasks efficiently.
