Adding and Organizing Customer Information in Docket

Adding your customers to Docket centralizes their information, simplifies billing, and enhances customer management. This article explains how to import customer details, explore customer profiles, and use key features.


Adding Customers to Docket

You can add customers individually or import them in bulk:

  1. Add Customers Individually:
    • Navigate to the Clients tab.
    • Hover over the green New button and select Add Client.
    • Enter the customer’s name, billing address, and contact details.
  2. Import Customers in Bulk:
    • Hover over the green New button and type Import into the search bar.
    • Select Import Clients and click Download Template.
    • Fill in the spreadsheet:
      • Required: Business Name, Email, or Phone.
      • Match columns like Client Type or Pricing Type to existing Docket entries.
    • Return to Import Clients, upload the file, and click Select File.

Customer Profile Overview

Each customer profile in Docket contains detailed information and tools:

  1. Billing History:
    • View invoices, payments, and balances.
    • Merge invoices, apply payments, or place accounts on hold.
  2. Names and Addresses:
    • The Business Name appears as the customer’s main identifier.
    • Add service addresses after creating tasks.
  3. Special Pricing:
    • Assign customer-specific pricing matrices or templates.
    • Adjust weight allowances or overage fees as needed.
  4. Notes and Attachments:
    • Store internal notes; mark important ones for drivers in the mobile app.
  5. Actions Menu:
    • Create tasks or documents, view financial details, or place accounts on hold.

Client Dashboard Features

Docket automatically creates a dashboard for every customer:

  • Displays estimates, invoices, jobs, and services over time.
  • Customers can:
    • Opt in or out of emails and texts via the Gear Icon.
    • Update their credit card or request new services through the Actions Menu.

If you use DocketShop, customers can schedule dumpsters directly via the dashboard.


Tips for Best Practices

  • Use consistent naming for Client Types and Pricing Types to match other settings in Docket.
  • Regularly update notes and attachments for accurate driver instructions.
  • Save copies of customer import files for future reference.
