Using the Dispatch Board

The Dispatch Board in Docket helps you assign tasks, optimize routes, and track task progress. This article explains how to navigate the Dispatch Board, assign tasks, and make the most of its features.


Understanding the Dispatch Board

  1. Key Columns:
    • Yard/Dump Locations: Shows yard and landfill stops in driver routes.
    • Unscheduled Tasks: Tasks without a specific date. Use this for rescheduling or holding tasks.
    • Unassigned Tasks: Tasks without an assigned driver or truck.
    • Outstanding Tasks: Past-due tasks not marked as completed. Click the circle icon to assign these tasks to the current day for completion.
  2. Map Pins:
    • Display task locations on the map.
    • Color-coded by task type:
      • Gold: Unassigned tasks
      • Purple: Dump & Return
      • Green: Exchanges
      • Blue: Drop Offs
      • Yellow: Relocates
      • Red: Pick Ups
      • Orange: Live Loads

Assigning Tasks to Drivers

  1. Drag-and-Drop Tasks:
    • Drag tasks from Unassigned Tasks to driver columns.
    • Add yard locations as starting and ending points for each driver’s route.
  2. Optimize Routes:
    • Click Route at the top of the driver’s column.
    • Set the start time and starting location for accurate route calculations.
    • Docket calculates the total route time, including travel and onsite durations.
  3. Adjust Routes:
    • Use the Show Map button to view and refine routes.
    • Add dump or yard stops as needed for realistic timing.

Routing Options and Optimization

  1. Routing ETA:
    • Enable this in Account > Plan > Routing for accurate travel estimates.
    • Toggle on routing under Dispatch > Options to enable true road routing.
  2. Onsite Duration and Time Windows:
    • Set these in Dumpster Management > Scheduling Options to improve route accuracy and task prioritization.

Tracking and Managing Tasks

  1. Real-Time Updates:
    • Drivers with location tracking enabled in the mobile app appear on the map in real time.
    • Task cards update automatically as tasks are completed, failed, or flagged for missing information.
  2. Task Pins and Index Numbers:
    • Click on a task's map icon to locate its pin or vice versa.
    • Enable index numbers in Options > More Settings > Show Index Number to match tasks with map pins.
  3. Customizing Task Colors:
    • Adjust task type colors in Dumpster Management > Theming to match your team’s preferences.

Tips for Success

  • Check the Unassigned and Outstanding Tasks daily to stay on top of your schedule.
  • Use routing features and onsite durations to optimize driver efficiency.
  • Customize task colors and index numbers for better visual management.
