If clients can book dumpsters on your website using DocketShop, you’ll want to track how they interact with your online booking system so you can see what’s working, spot where visitors drop off, and make informed changes that improve bookings and reduce friction.
There are two common ways you can track your DocketShop data and review the related insights:
There's a built-in Sessions area right inside the Online Booking section of Docket that organically tracks your DocketShop data.
You can integrate Google Analytics 4 (GA4) with DocketShop and review your data using Google's next-gen analytics platform.
TIP: To maximize the insights you have into how your online booking system is working, we recommend using both of the above options.
Before You Start
Here are a few things to know before you continue:
- You need to be the Account Owner or have Admin access in your Docket account to view Sessions data or integrate Google Analytics 4 (GA4).
- You must be on Docket's Premium plan for DocketShop in order to access the Sessions data or integrate Google Analytics 4 (GA4).
- If you're on the Basic DocketShop plan and would like to upgrade to the Premium DocketShop plan, please contact your original Docket Sales Rep or submit your information here to receive a call from our Sales team.
- You're responsible for managing your Google Analytics 4 (GA4) integration. Our Support team can only help with adding your Measurement ID to DocketShop.
Sessions Data
The native data compilation system that DocketShop offers provides insights into how visitors to your website interact with your online booking system.
The data that's tracked includes things like when a website visitor starts booking a rental (like entering their address for service lookup), if someone abandons their booking partway through, and if they return to complete a booking later.
To see your current DocketShop plan and confirm whether you already have access to Sessions data, just follow the below instructions:
- Click on "Online Booking" to the left.
- Check the bottom of your screen to verify if you are on the Premium or Basic plan.
If you're on the Premium plan, you can access your Sessions data by following the below instructions:
- Click on "Online Booking" to the left.
- Click on "Sessions".
The vertical list you see on the left holds each individual session that a website visitor creates when interacting with your online booking system.
When you click on a session card, all of the timestamped activity from that session will appear along with some basic user information along the top.
If you want to track the sessions that were Abandoned, use the Sessions Shown filter at the top of the sessions list to view that type of session.
TIP: You can enable Abandoned Cart email notifications to automatically send to clients who leave your online booking system before finishing their rental booking. Click here to learn more!
Google Analytics 4 (GA4) Data
With GA4 tracking enabled, you can view more advanced eCommerce insights including things like which products are most popular, how visitors navigate through the booking process, and additional visitor behaviors and interactions.
Once integrated, your GA4 ID will trigger Events in your Google Analytics dashboard. Events track interactions like page loads, link clicks, and purchases.
