If customers book dumpsters on your website using DocketShop, you’ll likely want to track how they interact with your online booking system. This article explains the difference between the data you get from Google Analytics (GA4) and the Sessions data already available in Online Booking, along with how to access both.
Checking Your DocketShop Plan
To view analytics in DocketShop, you must be on the Premium online booking shopping cart plan.
To check your current DocketShop plan:
-
Go to Online Booking in the left navigation bar in Docket.
-
Check the bottom of your screen to see if you’re on the Premium or Basic cart version.
Once you confirm you have the Premium shopping cart, there are two ways to track DocketShop data:
-
Viewing Sessions in Online Booking
-
Adding GA4 Tracking and viewing the data in Google Analytics
💡 Docket Team Tip: To maximize insights, we recommend setting up both!
Comparing Sessions Data vs. GA4 Tracking Data
Sessions Data (Built-in Docket Tracking)
Sessions data provides insights into how customers interact with your online booking system, including:
-
When they start booking (e.g., entering their address for service lookup).
-
If they abandon their booking.
-
If they return to complete a booking later.
How to View Sessions Data:
-
Log in to your Docket account.
-
Go to Online Booking in the left menu.
-
Click Insights > Sessions to see your data.
GA4 Tracking Data (Google Analytics Integration)
With GA4 tracking enabled, you can view more advanced eCommerce insights, including:
-
Which products are most popular.
-
How users navigate through the booking process.
-
Additional customer behaviors and interactions.
Once integrated, your GA4 ID will trigger Events in your Google Analytics dashboard. Events track interactions like page loads, link clicks, and purchases.
🚨 Important: You must configure GA4 events in Google Analytics. Docket does not provide support for GA4 event setup. For more information on Custom GA4 Events for DocketShop, click here.
