Understanding the Notification Log

The Notification Log displays the following information for each communication:

Message Type

Identifies the communication channel used:
  • Email
  • Text Messaging (SMS)
Each type is represented by a distinct icon for easy identification.

Contact Info

This displays recipient details for the message (if they exist on the client):
  • Business name
  • Contact name
  • Communication details (varies by message type):
    • Email: email address
    • Text message: phone number

Created

Shows the exact date and time when the message was sent, along with the Docket user who initiated the message.
  • For manually sent messages: Displays the name of the employee who sent it
  • For automated messages: Displays "System"

Delivery Status

Indicates whether the message was successfully delivered to the recipient. For email, it will also show whether the recipient has opened or read the message (when this information is available).
Hovering over the status or clicking on it will provide additional information about the message, which can be helpful in identifying the reason why a message may have failed to be delivered and what you can do to correct it.

Message

Provides a preview of the message content, limited to three lines. You can click on the message content to see the full message in a pop up window.
Note: The text content from the message will be displayed, but all HTML formatting from the original message will be removed.

Template

Displays the name of the notification template used, as it appears in the Notification Settings page.

Category

Shows the type of recipient for the notification:
  • Client: All client communications, including invoices and recurring bills
  • Employee: All notifications sent to employee profiles
  • Contractor: All contractor notifications
Note: The Template and Category sections are not displayed on the Client Profile version, but are still considered when using the search function.

Working with the Notification Log

Default View and Sort

By default, notifications are sorted by send date, with the most recent communications displayed first. You can click the header row for any column to re-sort the data based on that column.

Message History

The notification log will display all messages from the last 30 days. Messages older than 30 days are automatically removed from the log to ensure that the page loads quickly.

Viewing Message Details

To see the full content of any message:
  1. Click on any message in the log
  2. A pop-up modal will open displaying the complete message content
  3. Click "Close" to return to the log

Mobile View

The Notification Log is also viewable on mobile devices:
  • Messages are displayed in a card-style format
  • Tap any card to view the complete message details

Roles & Permissions

The Notification Log is enabled by default for all employee profiles with either the Admin or Office Staff role. To adjust these permissions on a per-employee basis, you can navigate to the Access tab of the employee's profile and then enable the toggle next to Notification Log in the Web Pages section of the permission controls.

Search and Filters

If you are looking for messages based on a set of specific criteria, the Notification Log also offers the ability to filter the list of messages. These filters are located at the top of the Notification Log page.

You will also find a search function included on the page that will filter the displayed messages to only those that match you search term, which can be a quick way to find all of the messages related to a particular type of notification or client.
