Docket provides multiple ways to add notes and attachments across tasks, clients, and invoices. Notes help your internal team communicate efficiently, while attachments provide necessary documentation.
Key Points About Notes in Docket
- Notes are internal-only – Customers do not see notes unless enabled for invoices.
- Drivers can only see Driver Notes within the mobile app.
- Starred notes take priority when multiple notes apply to a task.
Task Notes
Task notes provide specific instructions or details for an individual task.
How to Add Task Notes
- Open the task and go to the Notes & Attachments section.
- Add your internal notes.
- If you want drivers to see the note, add it under Driver Notes.
- If you want drivers to see the note, add it under Driver Notes.
Automatic Note Carryover
- If you schedule the next task from the Scheduling section of the current task, notes automatically transfer to the new task.
Default Notes
- To add or remove default notes that appear on every task:
Account > Dumpster Management > Scheduling Options > Notes > Default Notes
Client Notes
Client notes store account-level details that apply across all tasks for that client.
How to Add Client Notes
- Go to Client Profile > Notes & Attachments tab.
- Type your note and click the + button to save.
- To attach a document, click the paperclip icon, then click the + button.
Starred Notes
- After adding a note, click the ⭐ star icon to highlight it.
- Starred notes automatically appear in Driver Notes for every task created for that client.
Service Address Notes
- Notes can also be added to a Service Address.
- These notes show in Driver Notes for all tasks at that location.
- Starred client notes override service address notes if both apply.
How to Add Notes to a Service Address
- Navigate to the Client Profile.
- Click on the Addresses tab.
- Select Service Addresses.
- Click Actions beside the relevant service address.
- Click Add Notes.
Invoice Notes & Attachments
Invoice notes add billing-related details for clients.
How to Add Invoice Notes & Attachments
- Open the invoice.
- Click Edit Invoice.
- Go to the Additional Notes section.
- To add a note: Type in the space provided, click the + button, then update the invoice.
- To add an attachment: Click the paperclip icon, select the file, click the + button, then update the invoice.
Customer Visibility Setting
By default, invoice notes are internal-only. To make them visible to customers:
Account > Settings > Company > Billing Settings > Client Dashboard
Enable “Show Estimate and Invoice Notes & Attachments.”
⚠ Important: This setting applies to all clients. Be sure no internal notes or attachments are included in invoices before enabling it.
Attachments: Who Can See What?
Attachments can be added to tasks, clients, and invoices for images, documents, or other relevant files.
✔ Drivers can view attachments in the mobile app.
✔ Customers can see attachments only if visibility is enabled.
To enable customer visibility for attachments:
- For invoices: Account > Settings > Company > Billing Settings > Client Dashboard > Show Estimate and Invoice Notes & Attachments
- For tasks: Account > Settings > Dumpster Management > Client Dashboard > Show Task Images & Show Weight Ticket Images
Special Attachment Settings
To require drivers to add images for specific tasks:
Account > Settings > Dumpster Management > Mobile Options > Required Items
- You can require Weight Ticket Images and/or Additional Images.
- Driver-uploaded photos will appear in the Attachments section of the task.
- Weight ticket images can be found under Weight Ticket Section > Images.
