Tips for Managing Asset Availability in Docket

Maintaining accurate asset availability is essential for smooth operations. You can view current availability by:

  • Clicking the furthest icon to the left in the top-right corner of your screen.
  • Navigating to the Assets page and clicking Availability in the top-right corner.

Follow these best practices to ensure your availability data remains accurate.

Understanding Automatic Adjustments

Asset availability automatically updates based on scheduled tasks.

Example:

  • You have 3 assets currently in your yard.
  • 2 drop-offs are scheduled but not yet completed today.
  • Your availability for the day will reflect 1 asset available (3 - 2 = 1).

Adding or Removing Assets

When updating asset availability, keep these points in mind:

Manual Updates Are Required

  • Adding a new asset does not automatically increase the count.
  • Deleting an asset does not reduce the count.
  • Always update availability manually to maintain accurate records.
  • To update, click Update Availability and enter the total number of each asset size currently available in your yard.

Updates Affect All Asset Counts

  • Any update applies to all assets, so ensure your counts are accurate before making changes.

Double-Check Your Inputs

  • Miscounts can lead to scheduling errors or operational delays.

Understanding Availability vs. Yard Counts

Term Definition
Availability Automatically adjusted by scheduled tasks, reflecting assets in your yard plus/minus assets going in or out.
Yard Counts Manually recorded by drivers during task completion when picking up or dropping off assets. Yard drops may differ from availability due to pending or unscheduled tasks.

Example Calculation for Availability:

If you have:

  • 2 assets in the yard
  • 2 scheduled pickups today
  • 1 scheduled drop-off today

Your availability would be: (2 + 2 - 1) = 3 Available Assets

Fixing Yard Count Discrepancies

If your yard counts in Docket do not match what you physically have:

  1. Drivers may have forgotten to record a yard drop on a pickup task.
  2. To check:
    • Go to Assets > Assets Tab.
    • Sort by Availability.
    • Assets dropped in the yard should display a house icon 🏠 beside them.
  3. If an asset does not show the house icon:
    • Click the asset.
    • Go to the Current tab.
    • Select Yard Drop and choose the correct location.

Summary Tips

Understand how scheduled tasks adjust availability automatically.
Manually update asset counts for any additions or removals.
Double-check your counts before updating to avoid errors.

Following these steps ensures precise asset tracking and prevents operational disruptions.
