The Dumpster Sales Report shows you how much dumpster business you billed over any date range you choose, broken down the way you need it: by product, by geography, by driver, by dump location, or by dumpster size.
Instead of running separate reports for each breakdown, you get one report with a Report View dropdown that switches between eight different ways to slice your sales data. The KPI tiles at the top stay the same invoice totals no matter which view you pick, so you always have a steady baseline to compare against.
Before You Start
Here are a few things to know before you continue:
- By default, Admins and Office Staff have access to Reports. Admins can also choose to grant access to other roles.
- If you don't see the Reports option in your menu, you may not have the necessary permissions. Reach out to your Admin for access.
- If you are an Admin and would like to grant additional employees access to reports, please check out this article.
- This report searches by invoice date, not service date. If a job was completed in May but didn't get invoiced until June, it'll show up under June.
- Voided invoices are left out of this report by default. You can turn them back using “All Filters”.
Key Features
- Summary: Shows high-level invoice totals, including client count, invoice count, profit, average invoice amount, subtotal, total invoiced, and total balance still unpaid.
- Filtering Options: Filter results by date range, timezone, sales rep, client, and voided invoice status.
- Report Views: Switch between eight views, Sales by Template, City, County, State, Zip Code, Driver, Dump Location, and Average Sales by Size, to see your sales data broken down by product, geography, driver, dump location, or dumpster size.

Dumpster Sales Report Summary
When the report loads, the summary at the top gives you a snapshot of every invoice that matches your current filters. The summary doesn’t change when you switch Report Views and it’s always invoice totals for your selected date range, no matter which breakdown you're looking at below them.
The categories in this summary are:
- # Clients: Number of clients with at least one invoice.
- # Invoices: Number of invoices.
- Total Profit: Profit across your invoices.
- Average Invoice Amount: The average invoice total.
- Subtotal: Invoice subtotals before tax and fees.
- Total Invoiced: Invoice totals, including tax and fees.
-
Total Balance: The amount still unpaid on those invoices.
- This is highlighted at the top right of the report since it's often the number you'll want to check first.
Dumpster Sales Report Filters
Use the filters at the top of the report to narrow your results.
- Report View: Switch the table below between eight sales breakdowns. Defaults to Sales by Template.
-
Timezone: Set the timezone used to interpret every invoice date in the report. This field is required and comes pre-filled to Eastern Time (US & Canada), but you can change it if needed.
- The Timezone field can't be left blank. If you clear it without selecting a new timezone, the table below will show no results until a timezone is selected again.
- Date Range: Choose the timeframe for the report. Defaults to the current month.
- Sales Rep: Narrow results to one or more sales reps. Defaults to all.
In addition to the filters that appear at the top of the report, you can click All Filters to use additional filters for your report.
Additional filters include:
- Client: Narrow results to one or more specific clients. Defaults to all.
- Voided Invoices: Show or hide voided invoices. Excluded by default.
Dumpster Sales Report Views
Click into the Report View dropdown to switch the table below the KPI tiles between eight different breakdowns of your sales data.
Sales by Template
This is the default view. It groups your sales by the invoice template or line item, like "20-Yard Standard" or "30-Day Permit," so you can see which products and services bring in the most revenue. Each row shows how many times that template was billed and the taxable, non-taxable, and total amounts.
Sales by City, County, State, and Zip Code
These four views group your sales by location, down to subtotal, taxes, total, average invoice, payments received, and profit for that location. Expand a row to see the individual invoices behind it, including the invoice number, date, and client.
TIP: Each of these views has a "Use Service Address Only" toggle, turned on by default. With it on, Docket only groups sales by the client's service address. Turn it off if you want invoices with no service address on file to fall back to the client's billing address instead.
Sales by Driver
This view groups completed dump tasks by driver, so you can see tonnage, dump costs, and what each client was billed, task by task.
Please Note: This view pulls from task data instead of invoice data, so its numbers won't match the summary tiles above. Client Cost is what the client was billed for that task, and Net is Client Cost minus Dump Expenses.
Sales by Dump Location
The same task-level data as Sales by Driver, grouped by dump location instead. Use this to compare tonnage and dump costs across your disposal sites.
Please Note: This view pulls from task data instead of invoice data, so its numbers won't match the summary tiles above. Client Cost is what the client was billed for that task, and Net is Client Cost minus Dump Expenses.
TIP: If you export this view, use the Net total shown on screen, not the exported Net column. The export doesn't remove duplicate client costs, so the Net total in the file may run higher than what you see in the report.
Average Sales by Size
This view shows your average sale per dumpster size, including rental count, invoice count, and your average subtotal and total both per invoice and per unit.
Expand or Collapse Details in a Table
Several of the Report Views group your sales into rows, like a city, state, or driver, with the individual invoices or tasks behind that row tucked away until you need them.
To see that detail, click the "+" icon next to a row to expand it. Click the "-" icon on that same row to collapse it back down.
TIP: Click the "+" or "-" icon in the column header to expand or collapse every row in the table at once, instead of doing it one row at a time.
Sort the Dumpster Sales Report
After using the filters based on your preferences, you have additional options to sort the data that is presented in the table.
To sort the data in a table using the column headers:
- Click the down arrow at the top of one of the table’s column headers.
- Select your sort preference or click the gear icon for additional options.
- Each column can be sorted either alphabetically A-Z or Z-A OR numerically ascending or descending. For instance, the Count column will sort numerically while the Dump Location column will sort alphabetically.
