Pricing templates in Docket are ideal for businesses with straightforward pricing based on dumpster size and rental length. This article explains how to set up pricing templates, manage additional charges, and leverage related settings.
What Are Pricing Templates?
Pricing templates are pre-set pricing models tied to specific dumpster sizes, rental lengths, or other parameters. Use them when your pricing structure is consistent and simple. For complex, variable pricing, consider using the pricing matrix.
Setting Up Pricing Templates
- Access Templates:
- Navigate to Billing > Templates in the left-hand menu.
- Click Add Billing Template or hover over the green New button and select Create Billing Template.
- Add Basic Details:
- Choose a Category (e.g., Dumpster, Additional Charge).
- Select Dumpster Size and Rental Length to auto-generate the template name. You can rename it, but note it will appear on customer invoices.
- Skip the SKU field unless directed. Docket generates SKUs automatically.
- Toggle on Recurring for charges like monthly fees or daily rentals.
- Decide if the template should be Visible on Mobile App (useful if drivers create invoices).
- Set Costs:
- Enter the customer-facing price in the Client Cost field.
- Optionally, add your business expenses (Material, Labor, Equipment Costs) to calculate profit margins.
- Mark the cost as Taxable or Non-Taxable.
- Save the Template:
- Click Add Cost Template to save. Repeat for all dumpster sizes, rental lengths, and additional charges.
- Manage Templates:
- To edit a template, click on it, make changes, and save.
- Use the Actions menu to duplicate or delete a template.
Using Pricing Templates for Additional Charges
Set up one-time fees like disposal or insurance costs:
- Create an Additional Charge template.
- Navigate to Account > Settings > Add Ons > Dumpster Management > Scheduling Options.
- In Default Charges, assign the charge to specific dumpster sizes (e.g., a dry run fee for failed tasks).
Related Settings for Pricing Templates
- Billing Template Categories:
- Go to Account > Settings > Company > Billing Settings.
- Create custom categories for organizing templates.
- Visibility in Invoices:
- Use the template description field to add details customers see on their invoices.
Tips for Success
- Use templates for straightforward pricing models. For complex pricing, explore the pricing matrix.
- Review templates periodically to ensure they align with your current pricing structure.
