Selecting Pricing Settings for Your Pricing Models

Setting up your pricing-related settings ensures your pricing models (whether using pricing templates, a pricing matrix, or both) function as expected in Docket. This article explains how to configure settings for materials, sizes, fees, taxes, and more.

Materials, Sizes, and Overages

  1. Dumpster Sizes:
    • Navigate to Account > Settings > Add Ons > Dumpster Management.
    • Under Dumpster Settings by Size, ensure all dumpster sizes in your pricing models are selected.
  2. Weight Allowance and Overages (Pricing Templates Only):
    • Click Edit next to a size to:
      • Adjust the weight allowance.
      • Set costs for weight overages (per ton) and rental overages (per day).
    • Add allowed materials individually for task creation.

Rental Lengths

  1. Go to the Scheduling Options section in Dumpster Management.
  2. Toggle on Rental Length to enable rental duration options during task creation.
  3. Configure:
    • Available rental lengths (match with pricing matrix if applicable).
    • Default rental length for streamlined workflows.
    • Whether drop-off day counts as Day 1.

Task Types

  1. In Billing Options under Dumpster Management:
    • Select the task types you use for billing (e.g., drop-off, pick-up, dump and return).
    • Ensure these match the task types in your pricing matrix or templates.

Delivery Fees and Fuel Surcharges

  1. Delivery Fees:
    • Enable Show Delivery Fee if it should appear as a line item on invoices.
    • If using pricing templates, enter the fee amount.
    • Toggle Default Apply Delivery Fee for automatic application to invoices.
  2. Fuel Surcharges:
    • Enable Show Fuel Surcharge to display it as a line item.
    • For distance-based surcharges:
      • Select Distance and configure the rate per mile.
      • Leave the Fuel Surcharge column blank in your matrix to use this setting.

Taxes

  1. Go to Account > Settings > Company > Billing Settings > Taxes.
  2. Configure:
    • Tax ID (optional).
    • Whether taxes are automatically applied to invoices.
    • Tax Group details (State, County, City, or combinations).

Client Types and Pricing Types

  1. Navigate to Client Settings > Tags.
  2. Add:
    • Client Types (e.g., homeowner, contractor).
    • Pricing Types for additional pricing model labels.
  3. Match these exactly to the names in your pricing matrix or templates.

Tips for Success

  • Always match your pricing matrix or templates with Docket’s settings for accuracy.
  • Regularly review these settings to ensure they align with your pricing adjustments.
