DocketShop's Abandoned Cart Notification and FAQs

Using DocketShop's Abandoned Cart notification, you can automatically remind your website visitors via email about their forgotten items when they leave your online booking page without completing their rental. 

You also have the option to receive an email notification regarding an abandoned cart when it happens.

By enabling Abandoned Cart notifications, you can help increase your sales by reminding website visitors about the items they left behind.

Before You Start

Here are a few things to know before you continue:

  • Docket checks the status of your online booking system and whether carts have been abandoned every 10 minutes.
  • Website visitors who abandon their cart will receive an email within 20 minutes IF they've entered their email address in the Contact & Delivery webform.
  • Docket only sends your website visitors an abandoned cart notification once a day, regardless of how many times they leave your online booking page within a day.
  • Your website visitors must have entered their email address in the Contact & Delivery webform before leaving your online booking page in order for Docket to be able to send them an abandoned cart notification.

Access Abandoned Cart Notifications

To turn on and set up your abandoned cart notifications, just follow the below instructions:

  1. Click on "Online Booking" to the left.
  2. Click on "Notifications".

Set Up Abandoned Cart Notifications

Once you're on the Notifications page of Online Booking, you can turn Abandoned Cart Notifications on or off and adjust some of the information that displays in the email. 

Company Logo: By default, the email your website visitors receive will have a blank header at the top so we strongly recommend uploading your logo.

Enable Abandon Cart Emails: Turning this on (blue) tells Docket to start sending website visitors emails when applicable. 

Enable Notification Emails: Turning this on (blue) tells Docket to start sending you/your team emails when applicable. 

Content Heading: By default, the abandoned cart email notification will include a sentence at the top saying "You left some items behind in your cart." You can adjust what's in this field if you'd like to personalize this to match the tone of your business.

Email Addresses: If Enable Notification Emails is turned on (blue), this field will appear. You'll need to enter the email address(es) you'd like Docket to email when a cart is abandoned.

Call to Action:  By default, the abandoned cart email notification will include a sentence in the middle saying "Want to continue where you left off?" You can adjust what's in this field if you'd like to personalize this to match the tone of your business.

Return Button Text:  By default, the abandoned cart email notification will include a button in the middle saying "RETURN TO CART". You can adjust what's in this field if you'd like to personalize the button's text to match the tone of your business.

Don't forget to click "Save Changes" when you're done!

When Are Emails Sent to Website Visitors Who Abandon Their Cart?

Docket's server checks for abandoned carts every 10 minutes and your website visitors will receive an email within 20 minutes of leaving your online booking system.

Visitors will only receive 1 email per day regarding their abandoned cart.

Why Don't I See the Notifications Section in Online Booking?

The Abandoned Cart Notification is only available for Premium DocketShop accounts. 

If you're on the Basic plan, you won't see the Notifications section in Online Booking.

What's the Criteria for a Website Visitor to Receive the Abandoned Cart Email?

An abandoned cart email is sent if all of the below criteria is met.

  1. Item in Cart: There's an item in the visitor's cart.
  2. Inactivity: The visitor hasn't interacted with DocketShop for over 10 minutes. 
  3. Email Added: The visitor has added their email address to the Contact & Delivery webform.
  4. No System Errors: The abandoned session was not associated with a system error.
  5. No Order Submission: The abandoned session was not associated with an order submission.
