In the waste management industry, a strong online presence matters as much as reliable equipment. Clients are searching for and booking services online more than ever, and a professional website helps you build trust and win business over competitors.
Docket-built websites are hosted on WordPress (WP), one of the most widely used website platforms in the world. WordPress handles the technical backbone of your website, including security and performance, while you manage your website's content through Elementor, a beginner-friendly drag-and-drop editor built into WordPress that lets you make updates without any coding.
Additionally, you're able to add on our WebsiteVIP option and/or our Advanced SEO option for an additional cost. WebsiteVIP means that our team will handle managing/updating your website. Advanced SEO means that our team will handle Search Engine Optimization (SEO) for you.
Before You Start
Here are a few things to know before you continue:
- You must be on the Grow, Pro, or Pro+ Docket plan.
- You'll need to buy a domain name if you don't already own one.
- Docket doesn't sell or provide domain names.
- Docket owns your website and it'll be taken down if you cancel your account or downgrade to our Start plan.
- Docket doesn't own your domain name so you'll keep that if you cancel or downgrade.
- WebsiteVIP and Advanced SEO are separate one-year add-on contracts. Both stay active even if you cancel or downgrade your Docket subscription, so you'll need to cancel each one separately.
- If your Docket website is already live, check out our Website Management article.
Website Build Process
When you're ready to start the website build process, you'll fill out the Website Onboarding Form.
TIP: We strongly recommend you enroll in and complete our training course titled "Launching Your Docket Website" in the Learning Hub before filling out the Website Onboarding Form so you know what to expect.
You'll choose a website template from one of the four options below and what build option you want to use: Fast Build or Standard Build.
Fast Build
Fast Build is best if you want to get online quickly and are comfortable making your own adjustments in WordPress after launch.
Your website is built using the information you provide in the Website Onboarding Form. Once you submit it, you’ll get a confirmation email with a link to track your website build.
Fast Build websites are completed in 3 business days using one of our standard templates.
Please Note: This option doesn’t include a review window for you to check your personalized website template before it’s published.
After your website is live, you’ll receive login information to access and self-manage it using an Admin-level account in WordPress.
You’ll also have access to our Help Center for articles and videos to help you confidently manage and update your website.
Standard Build
Standard Build is best if you want more input during the build process and want your website to be as accurate as possible before it goes live.
Your website is built using the information you provide in the Website Onboarding Form. Once you submit it, you’ll get a confirmation email with a link to track your website build.
Once your website template is ready, you’ll get an email to schedule a time to review the template and submit change requests to our Customer Marketing team.
Please Note: This isn’t a live review with one of our team members. Instead, you’re scheduling the day you want to receive your access link. You can’t select a Saturday or Sunday, but if you’d like to review your website over the weekend, we suggest scheduling your review window for a Friday.
You’ll receive a link to Pastel, our website review platform, by 12:00pm EST on your selected day and you’ll have 72 hours to review your template and submit changes.
Our Customer Marketing team reviews and implements your requested changes within 2 business days as long as they’re within scope. Any out-of-scope requests are labeled with next steps and sent back to you.
You’ll then schedule a second review window to check the updates based on your requested changes. During that window, you’ll either approve the website as-is or submit any final requests.
Because you have the opportunity to review your website and submit changes before it’s published, Standard Build websites are completed within 21-30 business days.
After your website is live, you’ll receive login information to access and self-manage it using an Administrator-level account in WordPress.
You’ll also have access to our Help Center for articles and videos to help you confidently manage and update your website.
Out of Scope Changes
Because Docket websites are built from standardized templates, some requests fall outside our standard website review scope.
Our team can’t complete these edits during the build, but you can make these changes yourself once your website is published and self-managed:
-
New Pages or Sections: Requests to add pages or sections not included in your chosen template.
- Example: “Can you add a page about what can and can’t go in a dumpster?”
-
Adding Features or Functionality: Adding tools, widgets, or other functions not already part of the template.
- Example: “Can you add a chatbot to my website?”
-
Graphic Design or Image Creation: Requests that require designing, editing, or creating images or graphics.
- Example: “Can you use the stock dumpster image but add my dumpster dimensions around it?”
-
Vague Requests: Edit requests that don’t include exact wording or replacement files.
- Example: “Can you make this sentence shorter?” or “Replace the picture.”

WebsiteVIP Upgrade
Once your website is live, managing it is your responsibility. The Elementor editor makes that easy for most of our customers, but if you’d rather not manage and update your website yourself, upgrading to WebsiteVIP is worth considering.
WebsiteVIP is a managed website add-on available for an additional cost. Instead of giving you access to your WordPress website, our Customer Marketing team handles managing and updating it for you so you can stay focused on running your business.
If you purchase WebsiteVIP, here’s what you get:
-
Unlimited Website Edits: Submit edit requests at any time and our Customer Marketing team handles them for you.
- You won’t have the ability to make your own edits.
- Analytics Setup: We configure Google Analytics, Hotjar, and the Rank Math SEO plugin for you so you can track traffic, visitor behavior, and on-page SEO performance.
- Extra Content: We add 12 blog posts, 5 service area pages, and 1 FAQ page to your website for additional engagement with your visitors.
- AI Chatbot: An AI-powered chatbot trained on your business information, including your pricing and service areas, is added to your website to answer visitor questions and capture leads 24/7.
- Split-Testing: Our Customer Marketing team tests the pages and sections of your website to improve lead conversion over time.
- Quarterly Meetings: Every three months, you can schedule a 30-minute live call with our Customer Marketing team to discuss your website and ask questions.
Please Note: WebsiteVIP requires a one-year contract separate from your Docket subscription. Your website will stay active even if you cancel or downgrade your Docket account, so you’ll need to cancel both contracts separately if you decide to leave Docket and no longer want a Docket-built-and-managed website.
If you’re interested in upgrading to WebsiteVIP, reach out to our Customer Marketing team using the chatbot on our Docket Website Support page.
Advanced SEO Upgrade
Our websites don’t come optimized for search engine optimization (SEO), so that becomes your responsibility once your website is published. The stock content Docket provides is written broadly for the dumpster rental industry and isn’t tailored to your location or the services you offer.
Search engine optimization (SEO) is the process of making your website more visible in search engines like Google and Bing. When someone in your area searches “dumpster rentals near me” or “roll-off dumpster [your city],” SEO determines whether your business shows up in those results, how high it ranks, and how often people click on it.
Google and other search engines constantly crawl websites to decide which ones are most relevant and trustworthy for a given search. SEO is how you tell search engines your website deserves to rank near the top.
TIP: SEO isn’t a one-time fix. It takes time, consistency, and ongoing effort, and most businesses don’t see significant results for several months. Done right, it’s one of the most cost-effective ways to bring in new clients over the long term because you’re showing up exactly when someone is already looking for what you offer.
Every Docket website comes with the Rank Math SEO plugin pre-installed. Rank Math helps you optimize your website content for search engines so more potential clients can find your business online.
You can use it to:
- Set a target keyword for each page so you’re intentionally optimizing for what your clients search for.
- Write and preview your page’s meta title and description, which is what appears when your site shows up in Google’s search results.
- Get real-time feedback on how well each page is optimized and what to fix.
- Update your website’s overall SEO settings, like your business name, logo, and site description.
TIP: DO NOT upgrade your Rank Math account from within the plugin! The paid version isn’t compatible with Docket’s website setup.
Local SEO
If you’re on our Pro or Pro+ plan, your Docket-built website automatically includes Local SEO.
Our Customer Marketing team adds 4 blog posts and 25 directory listings on high domain authority websites during your website build. These are a one-time set of deliverables and won’t be monitored, managed, or updated by our team afterward.
Local SEO won’t make your business rank for specific keyword searches, but it helps establish your local presence and gives your online footprint a stronger foundation.
Our team selects directory websites based on domain authority, adding your business to local- and industry-relevant directories like ezlocal.com and manta.com, among others. Listings on directories with good domain authority tell search engines your business is credible and increase your visibility in your local market.
TIP: Domain authority measures how trustworthy and credible a website is in the eyes of search engines like Google. A website that’s been around a long time, has a lot of quality content, and gets referenced or linked to by other reputable websites has a high domain authority. A brand new website with no links pointing to it has a low one.
Advanced SEO
If you want Docket’s team to handle SEO optimization for you, you have two options: purchase WebsiteVIP or upgrade to Advanced SEO.
With Advanced SEO you'll still self-manage your website, but our Customer Marketing team will manage your SEO for you.
TIP: If you purchase WebsiteVIP, our team manages both your website and SEO so you don’t need to pay for both.
If you upgrade to Advanced SEO, here’s what you get:
- Guest Posts: Every month our Customer Marketing team publishes 4 posts on other websites that link back to yours.
- Niche Edits: Every month our Customer Marketing team adds 2 links to existing content on other websites that link back to yours.
- Directory Listings: Every month our Customer Marketing team adds 8 new directory listings to continue building your online presence.
- Blog Posts: Throughout the year our Customer Marketing team publishes 24 total blog posts on your website.
- City-Specific Pages: As a one-time deliverable, our Customer Marketing team writes 4 city-specific pages and adds them to your website to target clients in your service areas.
- Analytics Setup: As a one-time deliverable, our Customer Marketing team configures Google Analytics, Hotjar, and the Rank Math SEO plugin so you can track traffic, visitor behavior, and on-page SEO performance.
Please Note: Advanced SEO requires a one-year contract separate from your Docket subscription. Your website will stay active even if you cancel or downgrade your Docket account, so you’ll need to cancel both contracts separately if you decide to leave Docket and no longer want a Docket-built-and-managed website.
If you’re interested in Advanced SEO, reach out to our Sales team using the chatbot on our Docket Website Support page.
FAQs
These FAQs address common questions and quick clarifications to help you use this feature with confidence.
Where Do I Go To Learn More About Docket's Websites?
You can learn more and request a demo by going to our overview page here.
Where Do I Go For Help Once My Website Is Live?
Check out our Docket Website Support page for more information and use the chatbot to connect with our Customer Marketing team.
What Is A Domain Name and Where Do I Buy One?
A domain name is your website's address, like "dumpysdumpsters.com." It's what people type into their browser to find your site.
You have to buy your domain name from a domain registrar like GoDaddy, Squarespace, Wix, etc...
When Should I Contact My Domain Registrar?
Because Docket doesn't manage domains, you'll need to contact your domain registrar for help with items like updating DNS records, updating MX records, renewing your domain name, setting up URL redirects, and more.
What Is A DNS Record?
A DNS record is like a set of directions that tells the internet where to send people when they type in your domain name. It points your domain to your website so browsers know where to find you.
How Do I Update My DNS Record?
If you launched your Docket website before May 2023, our team likely manages your website’s DNS settings so you'll need to contact our Support team with your request.
If you launched your Docket website after May 2023, you're responsible for managing your DNS settings so you'll need to follow your domain registrar's instructions on updating DNS records.
If you need to find your domain registrar, just follow the instructions below:
- Go to Whois.
- Enter your website’s URL in the search bar.
- Find your Registrar.
- Log into the Registrar’s website with your account credentials.
- Contact their support team if needed.
- Locate your account's DNS records area to update A records, CNAME records, and more.
What Is An MX Record?
An MX record is a type of DNS record that tells the internet where to deliver email for your domain. If someone emails you@yourbusiness.com, the MX record is what routes that message to the right inbox.
Please Note: You only need MX records for your domain name if your business email is provided by your domain registrar along with your domain name. If your business email is managed separately through a different email provider, you don't need to touch your domain name's MX records.
Do You Track How Many Visitors Come To My Website?
No. If you need this data we recommend setting up a Google Analytics account and configuring tracking for your website.
Our Customer Marketing team can assist you with adding the Google Tags Script to your website when it's ready; just use the chatbot on our Docket Website Support page.
If you have any questions, please reach out to our Support team through the chat widget on the bottom of this page or by sending an email to support@yourdocket.com!
