Once your Docket website is live, managing it is your responsibility. Your website runs on WordPress and you'll make most updates using Elementor, a drag-and-drop editor built into WordPress that doesn't require any coding.
Before You Start
Here are a few things to know before you continue:
- Your Docket website must already be live for the below information/steps to apply.
- If you're looking for pre-launch information, check out our Websites Overview article.
- If you're looking for training information to help you during the build process, check out our "Launching Your Docket Website" course in the Learning Hub.
- Your WordPress login was emailed to you when your website was published.
- Your website is self-managed; our Customer Marketing team can provide guidance, but cannot make edits for you unless you've upgraded to our WebsiteVIP option.
What to Expect Post-Launch
Right after your website goes live, don’t expect to see it show up if you Google your business name just yet.
Google needs time to crawl and index new websites so it can take a few weeks before your site appears in search results.
TIP: Continue adding relevant content to your website to help your website perform better in search rankings over time. We also suggest adding a link to your website in your email signature and marketing materials to give it some visibility.
Manage Your Website
Once you’re comfortable logging in, managing your website comes down to knowing where to find how-to instructions so you can make common edits easily.
Resources
Whenever you need step-by-step instructions for a specific edit, these resources are your best bet:
- Elementor Help Hub: Use this when editing website items like sections, text, images, pages, buttons, fonts, colors, and blog posts.
- WordPress Support Center: Use this when handling account items like resetting your password, adding users, and updating your menu.
- YouTube: Use this when needing more niche/specific tutorials on editing a WordPress website with Elementor.
TIP: You can also ask an AI tool like ChatGPT or Claude for step-by-step guidance. Try a prompt like: “I have a WordPress website and need to [enter task here] using Elementor. Can you give me a step-by-step how-to?”
Website Terminology
As you get familiar with the wonderful world of websites, here are a few common terms to know about before diving into your website’s settings:

Log Into Your Website (WordPress Account)
You’ll need your login details before you can make any changes to your website.
Your Login URL, Username, and Password were originally sent to you by our Customer Marketing team in an email titled "Your Docket Website is Live".
Your Login URL is your website address (domain name) followed by /wp-admin.
Example: www.dumpysdumpsters.com/wp-admin
Your default Username is your first initial and last name, unless you've changed it in your WordPress account already.
Example: jdoe
The default Password given to you is your username followed by 123, unless you've changed it in your WordPress account already.
Example: jdoe123
If you forget your password, you can use the "Lost your password?" link at the bottom of the login page to reset it.
Add New Users to Your Website (WordPress Account)
Please refer to this WordPress Support guide when adding new users to your WordPress account.
TIP: Only give Admin access to people you trust since that role has full control over your website!
Edit Your Content
Once you’re logged in, most changes to your website’s content happen in Elementor.
Elementor is where you’ll add and edit sections, text, images, pages, buttons, colors, FAQ blocks, review carousels, and where you can undo a change if you make a mistake.
Please refer to Elementor's Knowledge Hub for step-by-step instructions on any of these items.
There are a few native WordPress tools to update your website’s header and footer menu, change your website's font and colors, change your dumpster pricing, add/edit templates, add/edit pages and their text/images, and publish/edit blog posts.
Please refer to WordPress's Support Center for step-by-step instructions on any of these items.
Change Your 'Contact' Form
Your Contact form works a little differently than the rest of your website’s content because it's pulled directly from your Docket account, so you won't edit it using your WordPress login.
To update the form, follow the instructions below:
- Log into your Docket account.
- Click into Forms.
- Click on Contact (Web) Form.
- Change the fields as needed.
- Click "Update Form".
You’ll now see your changes reflected automatically on your website.
If you accidentally delete the form and need to add it back, follow the instructions below:
- Log into your WordPress account.
- Click into Pages.
- Hover over the Contact page.
- Click "Edit with Elementor".
Please Note: If you deleted the form from this space, click the area below “Send a Message” and add a Text Editor widget from the left-hand menu.
- Hover over the Text Editor box in the “Send a Message” section until the pink pencil icon appears in the top right corner and then click it.
- In the left-hand menu, click Text.
- Copy the line below exactly and paste it into the text area, not the visual tab:
<iframe src="https://forms.yourdocket.com/?form=YOURFORMID&embed=true" width="10%" height="680" scrolling="no"></iframe>
TIP: To get your Form ID, log in to Docket, click into Forms, click on Contact (Web), click Actions, and copy the URL. Paste that URL somewhere you can see it, then copy only the string of text and numbers after the equals sign. Replace YOURFORMID above with that text.
- Click Update or Publish in the top right to save your changes.
FAQs
These FAQs address common questions and quick clarifications to help you use this feature with confidence.
Why Aren't My Changes Showing Up?
Your website may be displaying a cached version of the page. Caching temporarily saves website data to load pages faster which can delay your updates from appearing.
Wait a few minutes and then refresh the page or clear your browser history. If your changes still aren’t showing, use an incognito browser to view your website.
If you're still not seeing the changes, please contact our Support team.
How Do I Undo A Change I Made?
Please refer to this Elementor Support video for the steps to revert a change using Elementor’s revision history.
TIP: WordPress only stores a limited number of past revisions so it’s best to undo a mistake soon after it happens.
Can I Install New Plugins On My Website?
No, we don’t allow additional plugin installations since every plugin on our websites is tested to make sure it doesn’t affect performance.
If you need functionality a plugin would normally provide, please contact our Customer Marketing team through our Website Support page to see if we already have a solution in place.
Can I Add Tracking Scripts Like Google Analytics To My Website?
Yes, you have the ability to add both Google Analytics and DocketShop scripts to your website yourself.
If you need help, tell the chatbot on our Website Support page that you need our Customer Marketing team to add your script, and give it your script. It’ll ask follow-up questions if needed and then send your request to our team.
If you have any questions, please reach out to our Support team through the chat widget on the bottom of this page or by sending an email to support@yourdocket.com!
