USA: Set Up Your Card Integration With Fiserv (Apply for a Merchant Account)

This is for USA-based businesses only; if you're a Canadian-based business, please click here.

Accepting online payments is a key part of any modern business and one of the most important features of the Docket platform.

To take advantage of the efficiency and time savings that come with online payments, the first step is applying for a merchant account through our 3rd party payment processing partner, Fiserv.

Once you're approved, you can set up your CardPointe account (offered/managed by Fiserv) and begin processing credit and debit card payments.

Please Note: In order to accept ACH (bank) payments, you'll need to go through a separate approval process.

Before You Start

Here are a few things to know before you continue:

  • You must be the Account/Business Owner in order to apply for a merchant account.
  • You'll need the following information in order to apply for a merchant account:
    • The date of birth for every business owner with 25%+ ownership stake.
    • The social security number for every business owner with 25%+ ownership stake.
    • The home address for every business owner with 25%+ ownership stake.
    • Your business Tax ID.
    • Your business bank account's Account Number and Routing Number.

Apply for Your Merchant Account

In order to set up a credit/debit card integration between your Docket account and Fiserv, you'll first need to apply for a merchant account.

It's a specialized business bank account that enables your business to accept and process card transactions. Your business must partner with a merchant-acquiring bank that'll facilitate all communications around a digital transaction.

When you have the information listed above, follow the below instructions:

  1. Log into your Docket account.
  2. Click into "Account" on the left.
  3. Click into "Settings" at the top.
  4. Click into "Integrations".
  5. Click on the "Create Account" button on the 'DocketPay Together with Fiserv' card.

  6. Click on the checkbox next to "I'm not a robot".
  7. Click on "Get Started".

  8. Fill in all of your business information, especially legal business name, contact information, and Employer Identification Number (Tax ID). This is a legal document, so everything must match your legal business entity's information exactly.

  9. Click "Continue" in the top-right corner when you're done.
  10. Fill in all of the Primary Owner's information.

Please Note: The Selected Industry section should have '4900 - Utilities' pre-selected. Please leave this section as-is because this is what allows the integration to work for your bank.

  11. Click "Continue" in the top-right corner when you're done.
  12. Enter your business banking information. This bank account will be used for both deposits and withdrawals of funds.
  13. Fill in the processing information so Fiserv can understand what volume of transactions you’re looking to accept.

TIP: Be realistic and keep the numbers in line with what your business currently does.
  14. Select "No" in the Third Party Provider section.
  15. Fill in your delivery window information.

  16. Click "Continue" in the top-right corner when you're done.
  17. Select your previously entered business address. Since the integration between Fiserv and ServiceCore is all online, no equipment is needed and nothing will actually be sent to you.

  18. Click "Continue" in the top-right corner when you're done.
  19. There are 4 Agreements you'll need to review and agree to. Scroll to the bottom of each document, reading them as you go, and then click the checkbox at the bottom. Each new agreement will auto-load after you check the box.

  20. Once you’ve reviewed the agreements, complete the form by digitally signing it.
  21. Click "Submit" once you're done to send the completed form to Fiserv.

Most accounts will be approved within 24 hours, however, some accounts will need additional documentation to verify the information provided.

One of our payment account executives will work with you if additional information is needed. We will also inform you once your account has been approved and enabled in your Docket account.
