Route Tracker Overview

The Route Tracker is your day-of dispatch view for your Commercial & Residential routes in Docket. It gives Office Admins and Dispatchers a live look at what's happening across your routes from the moment drivers start their day to the last stop completed.

Instead of piecing together route status from separate screens, the Route Tracker puts everything in one place: your stop sequence, real-time completion progress, unassigned ad hoc stops, and a map view of your entire operation. It's where you manage exceptions, adjust routes on the fly, and keep the day running smoothly.

Before You Start

Here are a few things to know before you continue:

  • You'll need Admin or Office Staff-level permissions to use the Route Tracker.
  • At least one Recurring Route with Recurring Stops must already exist in your account before anything will appear in the Route Tracker.
  • Ad hoc stops can be assigned to a route from the Route Tracker, but they must be created beforehand.
  • IronRouteAI route optimization is not available for Commercial & Residential routes at this time.

Access the Route Tracker

There are a few ways to get to the Route Tracker in Docket.

  • Select "Route Tracker" in the C&R section of the left-hand menu. This is the most common way to access it.

  • From the Dispatch Board, click the "Route Tracker" button to jump directly to the tracker.

  • From the Occurrences tab on a Recurring Route details page, click the "View in Tracker" button next to any occurrence to open the tracker with that specific date and route already loaded.

When you open the Route Tracker from the left-hand menu, it defaults to today's date.

Route Tracker Layout

The Route Tracker is split into two main areas: the left-hand panel and the map on the right.

Left-Hand Panel

The left-hand panel is divided into two sections, one stacked above the other.

The top section is your primary route view.

This is where you'll spend most of your time. It includes:

  1. Calendar: Use this to navigate to a specific date and see which routes are running that day.
  2. Route Drop-down Menu: Select any route for the chosen date. If a date in the future is selected using the calendar, the drop-down will show both Active and Inactive routes for that day.
  3. Key Route Indicators: At the top of the stop list you'll see a summary of the route's status for the day. Indicators include:
    • Total Stops: The full count of stops scheduled for this route today.
    • New Stops: Stops that have not yet been started.
    • Paused Stops: Stops that have been paused for today's service.
    • Ad Hoc Stops: One-time stops added to the route for today only.
    • Failed Stops: Stops marked as failed by the driver, such as a bin that was not out for service.
  4. Action Icons: Also at the top of the stop list, you'll find options to locate the next stop, view route details, print or download the route, and reassign remaining stops if needed.
  5. Stop List: Once you select a route, all stops for that route appear in sequence below the dropdown. You can reorder stops by dragging and dropping them into the order you need.

The bottom section lets you load a second route or a list of unassigned stops underneath the top route. You can use it to compare two routes at once, or to pull up unassigned stops so you can drag them into the top route to add them.

You can drag stops from the bottom section up into the top route, but you cannot drag stops from the top route down into the bottom section. However, you are able to reorder the bottom route’s list of stops for the day. The bottom section displays the same key indicators as the top.

Map View

The map on the right shows all stops for the route selected in the top section of the left-hand panel. You can click any stop pin on the map to open that stop's detail pop-out.

The map toolbar gives you several controls to customize your view.

Map view customizations include:

  1. Switch between Street, Hybrid, and Satellite map views.
  2. Clustering: Select whether you want your map view to cluster stops together or to have each individual stop always show.
  3. Lasso Selection: Draw around a group of stop pins on the map to select them. Once selected, the stops will be highlighted in the list below and can be dragged into your route sequence from there.
  4. Show Routes: Show or hide individual routes on the map to focus on a specific route without visual clutter from others.
  5. Show/Hide Territories: Display or remove territory boundaries on the map view.
  6. Show/Hide Drivers: Show or hide driver assignments on the map.
  7. Show/Hide Dump/Yard Locations: Display or remove your dump sites and yard locations from the map view.

TIP: The lasso tool is especially useful when you have a cluster of unassigned stops in a specific area and want to add them to a route at once. Draw your selection on the map, then drag the highlighted stops from the list into your route sequence.

Stop Cards Overview

Each stop in your route list appears as a stop card. Stop cards give you an at-a-glance view of key details so you can scan the route quickly without opening each stop individually.

Stop cards display the business or client’s name as the primary identifier, for example "News Construction," so you can read your route by business name rather than street address.

If a driver has added a photo or comment to a stop, icons will appear on the card to indicate that. You can hover over the comment icon to preview the text, or click the image icon to view the photo.

Manage Stops on the Day of Service

The Route Tracker is where you handle exceptions and make adjustments as the day unfolds. Below are the most common actions you'll take.

Assign Stops to a Route

Unassigned stops can be added to a route directly from the map or by dragging from the bottom panel. You can move a single stop or a group depending on what you need. Any changes you make require clicking "Submit" to save.

To add a stop from the map:

  1. Click into the drop-down in the bottom section and select "Unassigned Stops” or a second route.
  2. Locate the stop you want to assign on the map.
  3. Click and drag the stop pin into the stop list in the top section.
  4. Drop it into the position in the sequence where you want it to run.
  5. Click "Submit" to save your changes.

TIP: If you need to assign multiple stops at once, use the lasso tool to draw a selection around a group of stop pins on the map then click and drag the grouped stops (e.g., 2 Stops) into the route.

To assign a stop from the bottom panel:

  1. Click into the dropdown in the bottom section and select "Unassigned Stops" or a second route.
  2. Locate the stop you want to assign in the bottom panel stop list.
  3. Click and drag the stop up into the top section stop list.
  4. Drop it into the position in the sequence where you want it to run.
  5. Click "Submit" to save your changes.

Please Note: You can drag stops from the bottom section up into the top route, but you cannot drag stops from the top route down into the bottom section.

Reorder a Route’s Stops for the Day

If you need to change the order a stop runs during the day, you can reorder it directly in the stop list.

  1. Find the stop you want to move in a route.
  2. Click and drag it to its new position in the route.
  3. Release to drop it into place.
  4. Click “Submit” to save your changes.

Pause a Stop

If a stop needs to be paused for the day, you can do this from the three-dot menu on the stop card.

  1. Find the stop in the top section stop list.
  2. Click the three-dot menu on the stop card.
  3. Select "Schedule Adjustment."

  4. Enter an Adjustment Name, Start Date, and End Date. You can also toggle to Pause Indefinitely.
  5. Click “Confirm.”

View or Edit a Stop's Details

Clicking on any stop in the list or on the map opens the stop's detail pop-out. From here you can review and edit the stop's basic details and see a full timeline of historical activity for that stop.
