The Dispatch Board is your real-time view of how your drivers' days are going. For Commercial and Residential routes, it gives you a high-level snapshot of stop progress across your entire fleet without requiring you to open every route individually.
Each driver's column on the Dispatch Board shows a combined view of their Commercial and Residential stops alongside any dumpster tasks assigned for the day. You can see how many stops have been completed, spot exceptions as they happen, and jump directly into the Route Tracker when action is needed.
The Dispatch Board is a monitoring tool for Commercial and Residential work. To make changes to a specific route or stop, you'll use the Route Tracker.
Before You Start
Here are a few things to know before you continue:
- Depending on your permissions, you may not be able to access all of the features covered in this article. Please reach out to your Admin if you need additional access.
- Commercial and Residential routes must already be set up in your account before stop progress will appear on the Dispatch Board.
- IronRouteAI route optimization is not available for Commercial & Residential routes. If you run IronRouteAI, it will only apply to dumpster tasks. Your Commercial and Residential stops will not be affected.
Driver Column Overview
Each driver's column on the Dispatch Board gives you a combined view of all their work for the day. At the top of the column, you'll see a completion counter that tracks progress across both Commercial and Residential stops and dumpster tasks together. As the day progresses, that count updates in real time.
For example, if a driver has 5 Commercial and Residential stops and 2 dumpster tasks, their column will show 0 of 7 at the start of the day and count up as each item is completed. Drivers who run high-volume Commercial and Residential routes may have significantly higher stop counts than drivers who primarily handle dumpster tasks.
Commercial and Residential Stop Card Overview
Commercial and Residential stops appear as a grouped card within the driver's column alongside any dumpster task cards for the day. The main card gives you an at-a-glance summary of all the driver's stops for their assigned route, broken down by status:
- Ad Hoc Stops
- Paused Stops
- New Stops
- Failed Stops
View and Act on Exception Stops
When stops need your attention, they surface directly below the main stop card as individual mini-cards. Ad hoc, failed, and paused stops appear below the main stop card so you don’t have to go looking for them.
To get more details on any of these stops:
- Locate the driver's column on the Dispatch Board.
- Click the mini-card for the stop you want to review (failed, paused, or ad hoc).
- Review the slide-out panel for stop details.
Please Note: The Dispatch Board is where you monitor daily progress. To make any changes to a stop or route, use the Route Tracker.
Open the Route Tracker from the Dispatch Board
When you need to take action on a driver's Commercial and Residential route, such as moving a stop, handling a failure, or adjusting the schedule, you can jump directly to the Route Tracker from the Dispatch Board without navigating away manually.
- Locate the driver's column on the Dispatch Board.
- Click the “View in Route Tracker” button on the driver's Commercial and Residential stop card.
The Route Tracker will open with that driver's route and the current date already selected.
Filter Drivers by Service Type
If you run both Commercial and Residential routes and dumpster operations, your Dispatch Board can get busy fast. You can filter the Driver Info List to show only the drivers relevant to what you're managing at that moment.
- Click on the “Sort” icon in the Driver Info List.
- Select (make darker) your preferred view from the options:
- Dumpster: shows only drivers with dumpster tasks assigned for the day.
- Commercial & Residential: shows only drivers with Commercial & Residential stops assigned for the day.
- Both: shows all drivers regardless of service type.
- Click “Apply.”
The Driver Info List will update immediately. This setting persists across your session so you don't have to reset it each time you switch back to the Dispatch Board.
Please Note: Drivers with both Commercial and Residential stops and dumpster tasks will appear when either filter is selected, since they have work in both service types.
