Notes and Attachments in Docket

Docket provides multiple ways to add notes and attachments across tasks, clients, and invoices. Notes help your internal team communicate clearly, and attachments allow you to store documents or images relevant to task, clients, or billing.

Before You Start

  • Notes are internal-only, meaning your clients do not see notes unless enabled for invoices.
  • Drivers can only see Driver Notes within the mobile app.
  • Starred notes take priority when multiple notes apply to a task.
  • Depending on your permissions, you may not be able to perform all of the functions listed in this article. Please reach out to your Admin if you require additional access.

Task Notes

Use Task notes to provide specific instructions or details for an individual task.

  1. Open the task and click open the "Notes & Attachments" section.
  2. Add your internal notes and attachments.

  3. Click "Update" to save your notes and attachments to the task.

Please Note: If the note should be visible to a driver, enter the note in the "Driver Notes" area.

Automatic Note Carryover

  • If you schedule the next task from the Scheduling section of the current task, notes automatically transfer to the new task.

Default Notes

  • To add or remove default notes that appear on every task:
Account > Dumpster Management > Scheduling Options > Notes > Default (Driver or Office) Notes

Client Notes

Client-level notes are useful for storing account-wide information that applies to all tasks for that client.

  1. Go to the client's profile.
  2. Click the "Notes & Attachments" tab.
  3. Type in your note and click the "+" button to save the note to the client profile.

If you would like to attach a document, click the paperclip icon, select the file, and click the "+" button to save the attachment to the client profile.

Starred Notes

  • After adding a note, click the star icon to highlight it.
  • Starred notes automatically appear in Driver Notes for every task created for that client.

Service Address Notes

Notes can be added to a Service Address which is helpful when there are address-specific instructions or details that apply to tasks at that location. These notes show in Driver Notes for all tasks at that location.

Please Note: Starred client notes override service address notes if both apply.

  1. Go to the client's profile.
  2. Click the "Addresses" tab.
  3. Click open the "Service Addresses" section.
  4. Click "Actions" beside the relevant service address.
  5. Click "Add Notes" or "Add Office Notes."

  6. Enter your notes and click "Accept" to save.

Invoice Notes & Attachments

Use Invoice Notes & Attachments to store billing or contract-related information for clients.

  1. Open the invoice.
  2. Click the "Edit Invoice" button.

  3. Scroll down and click open the "Additional Notes" section.
  4. Type in your note and click the "+" button.
    • If you would like to attach a document, click the paperclip icon, select the file, and click the "+" button.
  5. Click "Update Invoice" to save.

Make Invoice Notes & Attachments Visible to Clients

By default, invoice notes are internal-only.

To make them visible to customers:

  1. Go to: Account > Settings > Company > Billing Settings > Client Dashboard.
  2. Enable Show Estimate and Invoice Notes & Attachments.

Please Note: This setting applies to all clients. Be sure no internal notes or attachments are included in invoices before enabling it.

Notes & Attachments Visibility

Attachments can be added to tasks, clients, and invoices for images, documents, or other relevant files.

  • Drivers can view attachments in the mobile app.
  • Customers can see attachments only if visibility is enabled.

To enable customer visibility for attachments:

  • For tasks go to:
    • Account > Settings > Dumpster Management > Client Dashboard > Show Task Images & Show Weight Ticket Images

  • For invoices go to:
    • Account > Settings > Company > Billing Settings > Client Dashboard > Show Estimate and Invoice Notes & Attachments

Special Attachment Settings

To require drivers to add images for specific tasks go to: Account > Settings > Dumpster Management > Mobile Options > Required Items

It is important to note that:

  • You can require Weight Ticket Images and/or Additional Images.
  • Driver-uploaded photos will appear in the Attachments section of the task.
  • Weight ticket images can be found under Weight Ticket Section > Images.

Troubleshooting Tips

🔍 Missing Office Notes on Tasks?
