The Route Tracker is your day-of dispatch view for your Commercial & Residential routes in Docket. It gives Office Admins and Dispatchers a live look at what's happening across your routes from the moment drivers start their day to the last stop completed.
Instead of piecing together route status from separate screens, the Route Tracker puts everything in one place: your stop sequence, real-time completion progress, unassigned ad hoc stops, and a map view of your entire operation. It's where you manage exceptions, adjust routes on the fly, and keep the day running smoothly.
Before You Start
Here are a few things to know before you continue:
- You'll need Admin or Office Staff-level permissions to use the Route Tracker.
- At least one Recurring Route with Recurring Stops must already exist in your account before anything will appear in the Route Tracker.
- Ad hoc stops can be assigned to a route from the Route Tracker, but they must be created beforehand.
Access the Route Tracker
There are 3 ways to get to the Route Tracker in Docket:
- Click into "Route Tracker" in the left-hand menu. This is the most common way to access it.
- From the Dispatch Board, click the "View in Route Tracker" button to jump directly to the tracker.
- From the Route Editor page, click on the Actions icon to open the tracker with that specific date and route already loaded.
Route Tracker Layout
When you open the Route Tracker from the left-hand menu, it defaults to today's date.
The Route Tracker is split into 2 main areas:
- The left-hand routes panel with your routes.
- The right-hand map with your routes' stops.
Routes Panel
The left-hand panel is divided into two sections stacked on each other with the top section being your primary route view where you'll spend most of your time.
- Use the Calendar to navigate to a specific date and see which routes are running that day. The arrow buttons next to the date picker let you step forward or back a day, or jump straight to the route's next or previous scheduled day.
- From the Route List Drop-Down, you can select any route for the chosen date. If a date in the future is selected using the calendar, the drop-down will show both Active and Inactive routes for that day.
- The Key Route Indicators at the top of the stop list shows a summary of the route's status for the day. Indicators include:
- Total Stops: The full count of stops scheduled for this route today.
- New Stops: Stops that have not yet been started.
- Paused Stops: Stops that have been paused for today's service.
- Ad Hoc Stops: One-time stops added to the route for today only.
- Failed Stops: Stops marked as failed by the driver, such as a bin that was not out for service.
- The Action Icons at the top of the stop list give you options to locate the next stop, view route details, download/print the route, reassign remaining stops, and send a notification to the clients on the route. You'll also see a Filters button next to the search bar that allows you to sort a route's stops by their completion status and/or activity type.
- Once you select a route, all the stops for that route appear in order below the dropdown. You can reorder stops by dragging and dropping them into the order you need. You'll also see flags when a stop has been paused or failed along with icons indicating if it's a newly added stop (blue star) and/or if the driver reported an issue about it in the mobile app (red or green chat bubble).
- You can drag the Expand Bar up and down to show more or fewer stops in the top list.
By default, the list only shows stops that are actually running that day. Stops that aren't running are labeled Inactive and hidden from view.
To make them show in the list, click the three-dot menu and click on "Inactive stops: Hidden".
To hide inactive stops again, click the three-dot menu again and click on "Inactive stops: Shown".
TIP: The stop numbers update automatically to match whichever view you're using.
The bottom section defaults to showing you a list of your Unassigned stops, but you can change it to list the stops on a saved route.
You can use it to compare two routes at once or to pull up unassigned stops so you can drag them into the top route to add them.
You can drag stops from the bottom section up into the top route, but you cannot drag stops from the top route down into the bottom section.
However, you're able to reorder the bottom route’s list of stops for the day just like the top.
Map View
The map on the right shows all the stops for the route selected in the top section of the left-hand routes panel and you can click any pin on the map to open that stop's details.
The map's toolbar in the top-right gives you several controls to customize your view.
Map settings include:
- A way to switch between Street, Hybrid, and Satellite map views.
- A way to switch between the map clustering stops together or showing each individual stop.
- A way to draw around a group of stop pins on the map to select them all at once. Once selected, the stops will be highlighted in the bottom route list and can all be dragged into your top route list together.
- A way to show or hide individual routes on the map so you can focus on a specific route without visual clutter from others.
- A way to show or hide territory boundaries on the map view.
- A way to show or hide driver assignments on the map.
- A way to show or hide your dump sites and yard locations from the map view.
TIP: The lasso tool is especially useful when you have a cluster of unassigned stops in a specific area and want to add them to a route all at once. Draw your selection on the map, then drag the highlighted stops from the bottom list to the top.
Stop Cards Overview
Each stop in your route list appears as a stop card. Stop cards give you an at-a-glance view of key details so you can scan the route quickly without opening each stop individually.
Stop cards display the business or client’s name as the primary identifier so you can read your route by business/client name rather than street address.
If a driver has added a photo to a stop or flagged an issue with it, a chat bubble icon will appear on the stop card to indicate that. You can hover over the comment icon to preview the text or click the image icon to view the photo.
Manage Stops on the Day of Service
The Route Tracker is where you'll handle route exceptions and make adjustments as the day unfolds.
