Dumpster Management: Locations

The Locations section of your Dumpster Management settings make it easy to plan and optimize your drivers' routes. This is where you'll set up all of your frequently used Dumps as well as any Yards where you store your assets (dumpsters) between rentals.

Before You Start

Here are a few things to know before you continue:

  • We recommend that only the Account Owner(s) or Admin(s) set up or change the settings covered in this article.
  • There is no "Save Settings" button in the top right corner; Docket auto-saves your changes on this page.

Navigate to Locations

To access the Invoice section of your Billing Settings area, just follow the instructions below:

  1. Click on “Account” in the bottom left corner.
  2. Click on “Settings” at the top.
  3. Click on “View” on the Dumpster Management card.

  4. Click to expand the Locations section.

TIP: Docket will auto-save your changes to the Dumpster Management settings page.

Dumpster Management: Locations Directory

This section of settings is where you'll set up your Dump and Yard locations so Docket can optimize your drivers' routes effectively.

Dump Locations

This setting includes an UNASSIGNED Dump Location by default.

This setting is where you'll establish a default Dump for your Dumpster tasks. You can also add additional Dumps if your business uses more than one. There is a Dump Location Summary report that tracks trips to each Dump Location too.

If you haven't set up default Dump, Docket will automatically choose the closest dump location based on the pick-up task's service address.

Add a Dump Location

Quickly add a dump location by following the below instructions:

  1. Click "Add Dump".

  2. Fill in the Details form that appears.

  3. Click into the Materials & Costs section at the top of the form.
  4. Click "Edit Materials" at the bottom of the form.

  5. Select the Waste Materials that this Dump accepts and/or add new Waste Materials.
  6. Click "Apply" to save the selected/created Waste Materials to this Dump.

  7. Enter the cost for each selected Waste Material, if desired.
  8. Click "Save Changes" at the bottom of the form.

Your new Dump Location will be automatically saved the moment you click "Add Dump", so fill out the Details and Waste Materials sections of the form as much or as little as you want.

If you want to edit or delete a Dump Location, just click on it from your list and the editor will appear.

TIP: To make order entry smoother, we recommend clicking on the checkmark next to the Dump Location you'd like Docket to automatically add to your Dumpster tasks. This will be your "default dump" that'll appear on any tasks you create, but you'll have the ability to change the dump location in a task at any time.

Yard Locations

This setting will be BLANK by default.

This setting is where you'll add your Yard, the location where you store your (dumpster) assets while they're not being rented out.

Adding yard locations here enables Docket to provide turn-by-turn directions to drivers and makes it easier for you to maintain accurate yard counts. There is also a Yard Summary report that tracks what Yard each of your dumpster assets are located at.

Add a Yard Location

Quickly add a yard location by following the below instructions:

  1. Click "Add Yard".

  2. Fill in the Details form that appears.

Your new Yard Location will be automatically saved the moment you click "Add Yard", so fill out the form as much or as little as you want.

If you want to edit or delete a Yard Location, just click on it from your list and the editor will appear.

TIP: To make dispatching smoother, we recommend clicking on the checkmark next to the Yard Location you'd like Docket to use when optimizing drivers' routes. This will be your "default yard" Docket will use, but you'll have the ability to change the yard location for a driver at any time.
